  • How To Overcome Procrastination

how to overcome procrastinationhow to overcome procrastination

A build up of stress can easily cause anxiety, depression, and many other negative side effects.  These stressors may be unknown consciously; they could be as simple as having to return a phone call that you have put off.

Many times people don’t realize the effects that procrastination has on the mind and body.  I have found myself many times in the past stressed and could not figure out why.  When I really took a look at those times I realized there were many tiny things that I wanted to get done and just kept putting them off.

People procrastinate for many reasons.  Perhaps it is a tedious job they have to accomplish, or maybe fear is getting in the way of achieving goals.  With these factors as well as others, that may not be apparent, one can end up with a load of unknown stress.

This stress can lead to fatigue, depression, and a wondering of what is wrong.  Eventually it becomes a vicious circle of I need to get this done, I am to tired to do it, I will do it later and then it starts all over again.

This procrastination greatly affects the work of positive thoughts that one desires to attract the things in life that they want.  The law of attraction can be frustrating to many and those many may not be aware that their own procrastination is causing the frustration with the law of attraction.

To remedy this let’s break down the cycle of procrastination with the teachings of the law of attraction.

One procrastinates due to inconvenience or any other negative reason.  They do this to protect themselves from discomfort or other negative emotions.

The Law of Attraction teaches that if you are feeling negative emotions you are in resistance of what you truly desire.

I think you can see where this may be leading.  You procrastinate to avoid, when if you just got the job done you would feel relief.  This relief would then lead to a positive outlook which would make it much easier to attract the things in life you desire.

    So what should you do?

Take care of things when they come to you, when you do this, you are acting on inspired action not a chore of some sort.

If you dread something, focus on the end result of getting it accomplished, is it a good feeling?  Is it something you desire to be achieved?  In many cases, by getting the inspired action done, you will feel a relief.

As the teachings out there on the Law of Attraction say, reach for that feeling of relief and in many cases that means taking care of things as you are inspired to do so.

Here is a great movie to watch , it’s a conversation that takes place between a guy from Australia who was once a factory worker and an extremely successful online entrepreneur named Frank Kern.  I have seen Frank’s name often in the online world and he is a man who knows how to achieve his desires.

In fact, he tells a story about how he accidentally started using the Law of Attraction with spectacular results.

  • Focus Wheel By Abraham-Hicks

Before I learned of the focus wheel I used to teach in others what I called the step-up beliefs.  What I meant by that was choosing a thought that was just one step-up from where the negative belief was.  My theory of teaching this was to create a thought in my clients that they could easily accept.  For example, ” I am fat” to ” I am thin”  was not to believable.  However, I look good in that outfit was.  Looks like I missed the boat copy writing that one huh:)  Here is a video and free download of Abraham-Hicks Focus Wheel

  • Happy as You Want to Be

Almost everyone have heard the hit single ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferiin’s simple message surely made a lot of people by telling them not to worry.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life.

One of the better things ever said is – ‘The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change’, and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change.

Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for who or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with well with

Happiness is actually found in everyone, increasing it is a way to make a life more wonderful and also more healthy.

To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be a happy person. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

There are several ways by which you can do this.

Being grateful is a great attitude.  We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your windows. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mails, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive.

News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can’t start their day without their daily dose of news. Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news does not seem to be a sensible thing to do.

Manage your time. Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed  as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

Laugh and laugh heartily everyday.  Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they also say -‘Laughter is the best medicine’.

Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time.

Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new everyday.  Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. And could also give us more opportunities in the future.

Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive.

Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places.

These are the few simple things you can do everyday to be happy.

And always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln, he says that, “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

  • What is the Proper Way to Breathe?

    how to breathe properly

Years ago I suffered from severe panic attacks, they were debilitating and seemed to get worse no matter how much I practiced deep breathing.  I was working with a massage therapist at the time and during one of our sessions she told me why I could not calm myself.

While being trained in hypnosis, I learned the technique of proper breathing.  I realized how essential it is for individuals to breathe properly.  Whether it is for anxiety, hypnosis, meditation, relaxation, or better health it is important to breathe properly.

So what is the correct way to breathe?

While inhaling your stomach should go out and on exhale you stomach should go in. That was one of my biggest problems at the time of my panic attacks.  When you breathe improperly, you will notice your stomach going in on inhale. It shows that you are using the chest more and getting shallow breathes.

A good way to practice proper breathing is to place a book on your stomach.  Is the book going up on inhale and down on exhale?  If not, then you are not breathing properly.

Another way to observe proper breathing is to watch an infant while they sleep.  If you notice their breathing and their stomach movements, you will see that their stomach goes out on inhale and in on exhale.

Breathing is so important for relaxation and better health.  Learning the proper way to breathe has made a difference in my clients’ lives, as well as my own.  By just changing simple breathing techniques you may find that you can fix numerous issues you might be having.

  • Your Choice On How You Feel

making a choice about how you feelMany people when faced with adversity or negative circumstances often times believe that they are just unlucky, being punished, or some other fallacy.

Those beliefs are what make people’s situations worse.  It is their choice to suffer, it is their choice on how they are going to choose to deal with any given circumstance.

People do not like to hear these things, and why would they?  Accountability is not always comfortable.  However, no matter what the reality of any given circumstance is, it is always your choice on how you are going to view it.

There are only two choices in a situation, the victim, the negative aspect, or the survivor, the positive aspect.  Even in the worst of situations any individual is given the freedom to choose which aspect he or she will use.

I have heard people say in response to this… “Well, what about acts of another against another of violence, how do those people make a choice?”  The harsh but enlightening reality is that when it is all said and done those people can make a choice on how they are going to view the person that hurt them and the situation.

If individuals chose the negative view of another or of a situation then only that individual will suffer the consequences.

People need to really think about what hate and negative views do to another and then perhaps they would stop.  For example if a person is hurt by another, does hating the person that hurt them doing any good?  The reality is the person who hurt the individual probably does not care about what they think or they would not have hurt them in the first place.

If there are ill side effects of an occurrence or situation, they may come out subconsciously, but it is still the choice of the person experiencing these things on how they are going to deal with these ill effects, consciously.

There are two choices, hate that person and live with the constant negativity of hate in your life. Or acknowledge the occurrence as bad, but live in the now and realize all of the positive aspects of your life even if it is the simple fact that you are still alive.
