Author: Desire and Belief

  • When Belief Stands In The Way Of Desire

Many times throughout life you are faced with decisions, decisions that may be tedious to make.  However, if ones beliefs matched their desires there would be no difficult decisions.

Achieving true alignment with oneself takes time and if one has not mastered the skill out comes those tedious decisions.  When these times appear, one could be in a state to make decisions about beliefs that they have made a reality or that they may have been brought up with.

A good example of this would be a money situation.  An individual wants freedom and desires to set their own schedule, so they start their own business.  The business is not as profitable as they need it to be, so a new belief begins to emerge.  The belief is that money is needed and is more important then their dream or desire.  The individual then gives up their business and goes back to a life where the original belief is let go. Their freedom is let go and they feel negative because they felt they have failed in achieving their true desire.

This can be a devastating experience and the feeling of failure will lurk in the individual’s current situation.  The original desire was for freedom and setting their own schedule.  Due to a new reality that individual made, they are left with a sense of hopelessness and victim of circumstance.

The key to preventing a new belief from standing in the way of true desires can be as simple as you want it to be, however an element of sacrifice may be needed.  You would not establish an original desire for example, freedom, if you did not believe you could achieve it in some way.  Therefore the element of sacrifice needs to be letting go of the immediate now and maintaining forward thinking.

Any decision or situation can be as easy or as hard as you make it, but once you make a decision the goal should be to not look back.  Stay true to the original belief and if new needs or beliefs surface, evaluate them.

For example, if the need for more money surfaces is there a way to achieve it without letting go of your original desire?  Or if you are forward thinking, can you see yourself in the future with more money from your current endeavor.  This type of thinking can realign your beliefs with your true desires.

If one maintains this forward thinking in their immediate now, what looks like sacrifice can be reframed into a step in achieving ones true desire.

  • Near Death Experiences and Source Energy

While reading a book entitled “Life After Life” by Dr. Raymond A. Moody Jr. I came across a passage that was so enlightening I just had to share it.

There is much talk when speaking of the Law of Attraction about Source Energy. How we are all source energy and because of that we can ask for what we want and allow it to be given. When I came across this quote from an individual who had a near death experience I thought it related very well. The man explained what it was like when he while near death like this:

“Things that are not possible now, are then. Your mind is so clear. It’s so nice. My mind just took everything down and worked everything out for me the first time, without having to go through it more than once. After a while everything I was experiencing got to where it meant something to me in some way.”

This quote amazed me, it is read so much in many of the different Law of Attraction books out there that you only need to ask once and believe that it will come to you.

In this quote, the man shows that by saying that his mind just worked everything out. He did not have to go over it and over it for it to be clear.

In many of the Abraham-Hicks books, Abraham speaks of how we, as humans, have the need to go through things that have happened over and over. This passage from the man that almost died shows clearly that when you let your physical body go, things become clear.

This is a good lesson for anyone who wants to experience full fulfillment now. Knowing that many have had accounts such as this man did near death, teaches us to let go and allow.

This near death experience of this man shows how wonderful it is to let go. There is really no reason why we with our conscious mind cannot make the decision to let go and allow. If we decide something once, and let the rest work itself out. Imagine how much happier we could be.

  • Inspired Action vs. Hard Work

Many have the belief that hard work will get you anywhere you want to be. I am not challenging that belief for it is usually true, if you do work “hard” enough you will more then likely get to where you want to be.

However, the Law of Attraction states that if you ask it shall be given. From this, people concur that all they have to do is want something enough, allow it in and then it is there. Clarification is needed in this area as well. Although it is true that if you ask it shall be given, there is an element of effort that is needed.

The element is called inspired action, which to some would still be termed work. However, inspired action is something you want to do. You feel good when you are inspired to do something. The term work usually has a negative connotation to it therefore it does not fit with inspired action.

When setting out to do something that you are inspired to do you feel harmony. You no longer feel stress and tension to get the job done.

When people stress about work, they feel negative emotions about work, they are in a state of resistance. This state of resistance will hold back whatever they asked for. It may eventually show up but it may take quite some time until it gets to the individual.

When you are inspired to take action, things that are asked for can arrive much more quickly. You have an idea to achieve or get what you want and you act on it. You feel good when you are taking this action, it brings you joy. Then by this type of action, what you originally wanted manifests itself very quickly.

To truly get what you are asking for, it must be understood that action is required to get it in many cases. The action however does not need to be painful or negatively charged. If an individual asks, then is inspired to take action, the true manifestation of that action will emerge. If the person asks, stresses and tries very hard with a negative attitude, what you want may show up or might not at all.

  • Abraham-Hicks Quote

    Abraham Hicks Quote

While reading “Money and The Law of Attraction” by Jerry and Esther Hicks. I came across a wonderful quote that I would like to expand upon. There are of course many great quotes in the Hicks books but this one really took resonance with me at the time.

“It is not a good idea to stand in your perspective and try to evaluate the appropriateness of what anyone else is living because you will never be able to figure it out. But you always know where you stand relative to what you are wanting. And if you will pay attention to what you are thinking and let your thoughts be guided by the feeling that comes forth within you, you will find yourself guiding your thoughts more of the time in the direction of that which will ultimately please you.”

In the first line of this quote it speaks of not evaluating others, in other words, not trying to figure each other out. So many of us, including myself, have taken time wondering why people do what they do. If we actually took a count of all the minutes we wasted on trying to figure others out, I am sure the number would be astronomical.

Also, if people took on this attitude I am sure that many peoples lives would be much happier. For example, imagine if people did not try to figure out what government officials were thinking or if parents did not judge their children because they are not living from their ideal perspective. By not doing these things imagine the relief and happiness an individual would feel.

If people would come across what they did not understand or approve of in others and then change their own mind, massive relief would be theirs. In the above examples a fix would be to want the government officials to do the best they can or for parents want their children to be happy.

This is easier said then done, for many, do to the fact that we are conditioned to try to figure people out. Due to our emotions we have learned to take things personally. We also have the inherent need to be heard. Therefore passing judgment or offering unsolicited advice will give a sense of self worth. Many do this to be of help from their perspective but to others it could be damaging.

This quote I believe is very powerful and should be remembered and shared. When sharing, it is always important to remember to ask if someone would like your opinion or assistance. If they do not, don’t give it, it is yours to keep not their belief.

  • What Is Hypnosis?

    What Is Hypnosis

Hypnosis and its uses in the practice of hypnotism are rapidly emerging as a highly effective science in solving the problems of people. It can be very beneficial in many cases and is also a valuable adjunct to psychotherapy and psychiatry. Yet it is probably the lowest risk procedure available from the standpoint of contraindications.

Yet few complementary procedures are less understood, or more plagued by misconceptions and misunderstandings. Before considering what hypnosis is, perhaps it would be appropriate to establish what it is not!

Most hypnotists, on interviewing a new client/patient, will ask the client what he or she thinks hypnosis is. Replies range from sleep, to unconsciousness, to surrender of mental powers and control, to magic, to voodoo. All are in error.

Hypnosis cannot be sleep. In most cases the subject is fully aware of communication and is able to respond on request either verbally or by signal.  Nor is unconsciousness involved. A subject asked to make a specific movement will comply with the request unless it is objectionable, in which case there will be a refusal.

There is no surrender of mind or control. A person who does not want to be hypnotized cannot be hypnotized or be induced to do or say anything that violates personal standards of behavior or integrity. There is neither magic nor voodoo involved.

Any hypnotist can explain the actions or behaviors seen in stage, film or television shows, where the subject seems to follow directions mindlessly.

Actually, hypnosis is better described than defined. It is often considered an altered state of consciousness featuring “selective perception,” a process in which the subject (who is in control) chooses to see only what is relevant to his task, blocking out everything else. Hypnosis involves guided concentration. The guidance, however, may be provided by a qualified practitioner or, in the case of self-hypnosis, by the individual subject. Self-hypnosis, which can be taught by a properly certified hypnotist and learned by virtually any client, can provide the recipient with a lifetime of benefit.

    WHERE DID HYPNOTISM ORIGINATE?

The basics of hypnotism go back to ancient times. Those who have read Jean Auel’s memorable book, “Clan Of The Cave Bear,” will remember accounts of magic, healings, inherited memories and revelations performed or created by the “Mogurs” and “medicine women” of prehistoric clans. Hypnotism. In the early centuries of our own land, the medicine men of Indian tribes performed seeming miracles. Hypnotism. Wider, non-secret usage began in the 1700’s in several forms under different names.

There were periods of progress and periods of stagnation in the development of modem hypnotism. Medical interest and acceptance expanded following World War II when the use of hypnotherapy proved especially helpful to surviving battlefield casualties suffering from shock, injury, battle fatigue and various psychological disorders. As understanding increased hypnotism began to be recognized as an important adjunct to counseling psychology, psychotherapy, psychiatry, and also medical fields including neurology, obstetrics, emergency medicine, burn therapy and others.

Hypnosis is finding increasing usage in dentistry and other areas where pain control is important. All humans (and possibly several animals) have two distinct minds – the conscious mind and the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is vastly larger and more powerful than the conscious mind, yet it is the least understood and used by mankind. Actually, the great “unconscious” mind has two functional elements, the subconscious and the superconscious, the former the storehouse of memory, the latter dealing with the spiritual.

    DOES IT WORK?

The subconscious mind receives and retains, neither accepting nor rejecting, all the messages we receive from our backgrounds, whether genetic, social, religious or experiential, plus all the conflicts (little or big) that enter our lives daily. When for whatever reason the conscious mind (which deals with everyday living, logic, reason, etc.) becomes overloaded, the subconscious prepares us for what is considered appropriate action (usually fight or flight). However the subconscious mind does not analyze, as does the conscious mind, but accepts all messages in the literal sense.

In essence, hypnosis is a means of communication between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. Many human problems, habits, stresses, anxieties, attitudes or apparent deficiencies can be traced to interpretations by the subconscious mind which, when understood by the conscious mind, can reduce or resolve specific problems.

The subconscious is also the seat of all memory. Traumatic events can be buried or suppressed in the subconscious. A major benefit of hypnosis is its ability to uncover and bring into the light of understanding the buried information or experience that may be the cause of a troublesome problem.

    WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE

Your first visit with your hypnotist will, primarily, be exploratory. You will learn about hypnotism and become comfortable with it. Your hypnotist will discuss your interests and your desires to determine if hypnosis can accomplish what you want to achieve.

If you both feel that it will be worthwhile to proceed, your hypnotist may give you some small tests to determine your type of suggestibility, your ability to relax, your skills at visualization-procedures which help your hypnotist adapt to you as an individual so as to design programming personalized for you which will be acceptable to your subconscious, retained and acted upon in a manner leading to full achievement of your goals.
