  • Your Higher Power

    your higher power

Whatever or whomever your higher power may be it must be remembered that it is your greatest strength.  People may try to sway you one way or another on what or whom should be your higher power, but you should still maintain your own belief.

By staying strong with your higher power you will draw a great number of benefits.  It is your strength, your will, and your path to all your desires.  If one has confusion of what or who their higher power is, then that life of confusion may deliver great mishaps and lead to an attitude of loss.

Trying to find your higher power amongst your confusion can be a difficult task but can be accomplished.  Your higher power is what feels right to you, it is not what others tell you is right.  It is deep within you and is an inner knowing of what your true beliefs are.  If you are judged by your beliefs by others, then those people should not be in your life experience.   If you feel the need to judge others then it may be that you have not found your true higher power.

A belief in a higher power is not to be forced upon others but offered if asked.  Individuality in beliefs and lifestyles is imperative for inner peace and harmony.  In most cases, if you are surrounded by negativity or feel the need to spread it, a higher power of peace has not been found.

If you are solid in your belief in you higher power what are the benefits?  The tapping into its strength and having peace of mind would be most likely.  If one has difficulty with tapping into their higher power there are a few techniques one can use.

    –         Lie down with your eyes closed and ask your higher power for peace, strength or whatever you may need.  Feel the power radiating through your body.  If you do not feel it right away, wait, it will come.

    –         If there is literature about or from your higher power, read it in a place of silence.  Absorb it and don’t stop reading until you understand each word and feel a sense of calm

    –         Listen to motivational cd’s or tapes at home or while driving.  Motivation from what you consider to be you higher power will start and end every day right.

Finding and drawing from your higher power will put your life back on track quicker then you could ever imagine.  Your belief in your higher power and ability to draw upon it will cause miracles to happen very quickly in your life experience.

These are just a few tips and I would love to hear more, so if you have any feel free to contact me or leave a comment.

  • The Law of Attraction and The Power of Positive Thinking

Many people of spiritual beliefs seem to have problems with The Law of Attraction.  Being brought up in a certain religious background I can understand there concerns.  However, I have not seen many compare any manuscripts on The Law of Attraction to Norman Vincent Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking.”

I have read that many believe that Peale was out of line and in some cases a blasphemer:)

Those people are entitled to their opinion and it is not the intent of this to challenge that.

My goal is to show the great comparisons of The Law of Attraction with Peale’s beliefs and advice portrayed in “The Power of Positive Thinking.”  In a small publication that I have by Peale it goes through several areas that all seem to relate to The Law of Attraction with biblical teachings.

The first area talks about believing in yourself, it states that if there is no belief and low self confidence that these things take your true power away.  The quote from the bible that he uses in this chapter is “If God be for us, who can be against us.”  Putting this in Law of Attraction terms if source energy is delivering then what can be against us?

Another area goes into how to have constant energy.  In this section it speaks of negative emotion and how it takes your energy away.  It relates to the Bible by saying that the overall point of the Bible is life, and life is vitality.  In Law of Attraction terms, it speaks often of how negative emotions will leave you in an unenergized place making it more difficult to achieve your desires.

The section on how to create your own happiness is startling in the comparisons between the spirituality and the Law of Attraction.  The basis of this section is that the only person that decides your happiness is you, much like what the Law of Attraction states.  The Biblical verse that is used is “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”  It speaks of everyday repeating the things you want for the day, much like the Law of Attraction states.

Although there are many more sections that I will cover at a later time, I would like to focus on one last section entitled “Expect the Best and Get It.”  I believe the name says it all.  In this section it states:

“Our belief at the beginning of a doubtful undertaking is the one thing [now get that – the one thing] that ensures the successful outcome of your venture.”  When you expect the best, you release a magnetic force in your mind which by a law of attraction tends to bring the best to you.”

Like the title of this section, the quote itself says quite a bit, including mentioning the Law of Attraction itself.  One of the Biblical quotes used in this section is “If ye have faith nothing is impossible to you.”

As you can see from this brief comparison there are many similarities between Peale’s work and works on the Law of Attraction.  There are also many scriptures within the Bible that relate well to the teachings of the Law of Attraction.

I take no side on which way is the best way; the purpose of this is to enlighten others, as well as myself, to many similarities of religion, spirituality, and the Law of Attraction.

  • Frustration and Regret

how to get over frustration and regret

Two of the most difficult emotions that interfere with positive creation and achieving desire are frustration and regret.  The two can be felt alone but many times accompany each other.

Overcoming frustration and regret can be such a difficult task.  People are conditioned to look back at past decisions and dwell on them.  Past decisions that they believe brought them to where they are now.

The hardest thing for many to understand is that those decisions may have played a part in bringing them to where they are but did not create how they are.  Differentiating between the two can be troublesome.

To succeed in achieving lack of frustration and regret, there are a few steps that one can follow.

First and foremost, is remembering forward thinking, thinking of the good that lies ahead.  With that being said, many people need to practice forward thinking often to achieve relief from frustration and regret.

A way that I found helpful when practicing forward thinking in regards to frustration and regret is to think back for just a moment, and realize that at the time of the decisions you were making the best decision you could with the knowledge you had at hand.

The above technique promotes forgiveness and although every decision that was made may not require forgiveness, the forgiveness promotes relief.  The relief then guides the individual to bring on more relieving thoughts.

A final technique I have used is the flow chart. The flow chart has many different aspects which I will cover in a later post. In a nutshell, a flow chart is the actual drawing out of different times, what you was thinking at those times, and why you made the decision.  The flow chart assists in releasing frustration and regret because people can actually see that they did their best at that time.   Since individuals have a great tendency to be visual in nature, this process of having something tangible in there hands for them to see can be very beneficial.

When all else fails, facing the harsh reality that you are frustrated and regretful because of your own choosing is in order.  This tough love is not comfortable but can smack you back into alignment if you listen to yourself.

He who angers you conquers you, and unfortunately at times that person is yourself.

  • Upstream and Downstream Thoughts

    upstream thoughts and downstream thoughts

One of my favorite discs from Abraham-Hicks is a disc that is accompanied by their book entitled “The Astonishing Power of Emotions” This disk is an excerpt from a Hicks seminar and the explanation and analogy of the information was greatly beneficial to me.

The disc and well as the book discuss life a stream. The concept is that you go with the flow of the stream whether you like it or not. If the stream is flowing you have no option but to follow the stream.

The Hicks use the analogy of the stream as life. They explain that when you are with the flow of positive emotions you are going downstream. When you are with the flow of negative thoughts you are going upstream.

When people are in an actual stream, they would never think of paddling against the current. The Hicks explain that life and emotions are that way as well. When you are feeling bad you are having upstream thoughts. You have deliberately turned your boat upstream and started paddling against the current. When you are having downstream thoughts you feel good and you have allowed the current of the stream to take you to your next destination and you are okay with that.

A great technique that I have used when I desire something or if I want to feel better is to actually visualize the stream in my mind. Imagine you are in a boat or canoe and see the things to want floating towards you. This use of visual imagery really does release resistance and promote a more positive thinking pattern.

The Hicks explain that if you just go with the flow of the stream it will take you to what you want. They go on to say that using this analogy is a great way to gauge where you are on the emotional scale. It is easy to know where you are in regards to your desires. If you are feeling bad you are going upstream and away from what you want. If you are feeling good you are going downstream and floating towards you desires.
